This was my first time having fresh, warm, hand dipped donuts and wow wow whoa...I won't be able to have a donut from a chain spot again. The choice of glazes and toppings can be overwhelming. I decided to play it safe with the peppermint patty and it was delicious. The husband had the chocolate/peanut combo & that was equally delicious. There is also a self serve coffee bar, which had a surprising variety of choices and was also good quality. Definitely worth checking this spot out!

Was so so sad when this place closed in Rockville town center - so was super excited when we found one in rehobeth! Hard to beat a delicious line up of hot, fresh donuts that are topped while you wait. We had our old favorites - the ms prunella (mixed berry glaze with cinnamon sugar) and the blueberry hill (blueberry glaze and powdered sugar), which looks unnaturally blue but is very delicious and fruity! Our friends had the banana nut bread (banana glaze, cinnamon sugar and peanuts). All three donuts were awesome - melt in your mouth and really too sweet for early in the morning, but that didn't stop us and the many people in line out the door. Would highly recommend this place!

We were down for a long beach weekend and decided to check this place out, and man am I glad we did. We ended up going back the next day too! Donuts are made hot and fresh, and fast! Coffee is excellent too. You can get an infinite number of combinations, but the salted caramel one was probably the best donut I've ever had. If it wasn't hundreds of miles away for me, I'd be there every weekend!!

Amazing, delicious, hot fresh donuts. I was afraid they would be overly sticky and sweet. Boy was I wrong! The toppings melt right into the soft cakey donut and you experience a moment of sugar laden bliss. It's hard not to inhale each donut. Someone needs to bring this franchise north of the Mid Atlantic.

Discovered this gem thanks to YELP on a recent trip the the DE Coast... As usual, Yelp never steers me wrong! The donuts were made fresh (as in they started making them after we ordered) and the toppings were overwheleming! I had one with chocolate and peanuts, while my wife had a mint/chocolate combo. Both were excellent! The staff was very friendly and patient while we made our choices. The coffee was good as well, even though it came from a self-serve bar. I wish there was one of these closer to home, but I can't wait to have another of their yummy treats the next time I am in the Dewey area.

Literally the best donuts I've ever eaten. Must stop!

A summertime ritual of mine at the DE beaches is to do a 5k run (they have organized runs in Dewey just about every Sat or Sun during the season), burn 400 calories or so, then cancel the run out by heading to Fractured Prune (BIZARRE name for a donut shop, I know, but go with it) and getting two donuts and a cup of joe. It is one of my "things" during the summer that I look forward to the rest of the year. They are made fresh and to order and the people who work there are so amazingly nice. Please...When you are at the beach and you need a donut, SKIP Dunkin Donuts (horrible) and head to Fractured Prune. You will be an FP addict before you know it.

The donuts are so delicious- and my husband and I had a lot of fun picking out different flavors and enjoying our morning treat during our baby moon. I would imagine during the season that parking could be a problem, but when we were there we parked right away. Inside had lots of seating and our donuts came out super fast.

This is a must stop if your in the area. Especially if you have young people. From the moment you walk in until the funky colors it's a fun time. They have so many different types of donuts in the making for you right on the spot. Get there early for there be a line out the door during season. It's worth the wait. We have a summerhouse we come here throughout the year whether it's winter or summer staff and the donuts are the best.

    (5)
  • Alik W.

Excellent target for an early morning walk or bike (they open at 7 during the season). Friendly staff, great flavors, and that early there isn't a line. A little less innovative in flavor than, say, voodoo in Portland, but that's because of their specific method. Still delicious and cheap.

  • Fat T.

All the donuts are made to order on one of those conveyor machines (but a larger version) you see at some farmers markets where they sell 10 mini donuts for $1. So all the donuts are made from the same batter but then they have hundreds of different glazes and toppings. Worth the visit in the morning with coffee to balance out the sweetness or dessert. They close at 3pm!!!

Interesting flavor for good looking donuts but it will con you to fatness. Be careful not to eat the whole dozen. It will surely make you earn it.

Best. Donuts. Ever. Seriously. I'm not the biggest donut-eater, but I could eat one of these every day (I wouldn't though, of course). Fractured Prune has a ton of different flavors and they're all delicious. They're fresh to death too... hand-dipped and hot as you're eating them. They're small, so, I mean, you can get two so you can try more than one flavor. You're missing out if you haven't tried one of these babies yet.

These sweet rings are made to order so they are hot and fresh. You could draw comparisons to a fresh Krispy Kreme in that it's that same satisfying feeling of biting into a warm sugary donut but the Fractured Prune's donuts are on a different level. These are cake donuts so not the light, melt in your mouth texture of Krispy Kreme. They have so many unique flavors too...their base is a plain cake donut and you can go crazy with flavors and topping from there-- Strawberry Shortcake: a sweet strawberry glaze but no actual berries on it. Morning Buzz had a nice coffee flavor but was probably the sweetest out of all of the ones that we tried. The Reese Cup reminded me of the flavor of a Reeses with the peanut butter glaze and chocolate chips but I think the peanut butter needed to be a stronger flavor and more chocolate chips please! Oh and the lady at the counter was SO nice and patient (while we discussed the verying levels of deliciousness of each donut). This past weekend was my first time at the Fractured Prune and needless to say, I will be coming back for their donuts on every trip to Rehoboth / Lewes / Dewey beaches.

First, this place is NOT in Dewey Beach. Its a few miles up the road in between Rehoboth and Dewey. Just be mindful. We spent 15 minutes trying to find it in Dewey :-( DOH!! The donuts are AMAZING! So fresh, piping hot, and they custom make your donuts with fresh toppings. They also have sandwiches too. I came here with 4 friends and we got a half-dozen box of different kinds. Cut them up so everyone could try different one's and shared. Great customer service.

  • Kelly C.

I really try and limit my sugar intake, but when a group of friends suggested we all stop here before going to Lewes beach, I couldn't resist. There was a great amount of flavors to choose from, but ultimately decided to try the Lemon donut. It was delicious, and this is coming from someone who doesn't really like to eat dessert! A good portion, nice, soft and warm. Perfect! There was a lot of seating inside and all the staff were pleasant and nice. I also love the pictures of all the dogs :) I'll definitely be back.

  • Chris D.

Fractured Prune is pretty great! They have a huge list of toppings that you can choose from, then they fry up the donuts while you wait. They only make cake donuts, which aren't normally my thing, but these are worth it. As a few other people have stated, the owner makes the experience. We were in town for a wedding and it happened to be particularly rainy that day. I stopped by in the morning to pick up some donuts for a healthy breakfast, and the owner started chatting me up. When I told him I was attending an outdoor wedding later that day, he immediately offered up his establishment as a back up location for free! At first I was trying to figure out his angle, but after talking to him for a while I decided that he is just a nice guy... good way to get positive reviews too. I would absolutely go back here!

I've always been kind of a donut snob since my father made the best homemade donuts. I had heard about this place on Unwrapped and a couple other tv shows. I might have been a little too excited when I saw there was a location in Delaware. When you walk in they ask how many donuts you'll be having so they can fry them fresh. Hot fresh donuts are already like 10x better than anywhere else. How can it get better? They have a ton of interesting flavors to choose from and hand dip them to order. We split the Apple Pie, Rolo, and the Mixed Berry. The Apple Pie donut might have been the best thing I've ever tasted. I took off a star because the milk I bought was spoiled even though it had a different date on it. I wouldn't have taken the star off just for the milk itself since clearly they wouldn't have known without tasting it. What bothered me was how they handled the situation. If my patron had drank spoiled milk I probably would have brought them water not made them come buy the water. They also close at 3pm even on a busy weekend. We would have bought some more to take home with us. $6 minimum Credit Card purchase.

Fractured Prune doughnuts are so good! This location is right off Coastal Highway. We hit it up as we were leaving the beach to head home, clinging desperately to the last minutes of vacation (you know that special time warp where the fat and calories you consume don't really count.) It was crazy busy in there, but those little girls ran it very efficiently. All doughnuts are fresh and hand dipped to order. You can order their pre-designed doughnuts, or customize your own with their large assortment of glazes and toppings. We've learned from the past that less is more when it comes to fractured prune doughnuts. The first time we tried it it was like a doughnut with a candy bar on top with the amount of toppings we splurged for. We've stuck with ordering off the menu since and haven't gone wrong. We recommend the OC sand, trail mix, and morning buzz.

  • Janet F.

This is a fun donut shop that's different from the ordinary Dunkin Donuts. Here, you order the donuts with the toppings you choose and it's made fresh for you. It's a total carb/sugar overload but soooo good. They only serve hot donuts. My favorite toppings are peanut butter and chocolate chips and mint glaze with chocolate chips. There are at least 10 different glazes and 10 more toppings to choose from. Worth a try and a family tradition for me and my kids when we are at the beach in Delaware. The Ocean City Maryland location is also good but you can't sit down at a table there.

The concept, service, management and unique factor are 5 stars - but the heavy, greasy feeling after eating 2 donuts (a plain jane with powder and a french toast) and our 7 year old ate one (loaded with chocolate glaze and sugarry toppings - lord know what she picked out!) left us literally nauseous. Tip - only eat ONE (they are greasy as hell) and do not overload on glazes/toppings. In future it's plain jane for me. They taste great - but less than 30 minutes later we felt so awful. NOT for the health-conscious!

It may be small and have limited parking but its big on taste. The choices are all interesting and I'm sure they're all tasty but we only had a couple on this trip. Ambiance: Cute purple donut shack with black and white tiled floors bring the beach atmosphere to Coastal Hwy. I especially liked the history of its name, go Purnella! Service / Set-Up: The place is separated into 2 sections. The coffee shop and seating area and the donut ordering area. This allowed for a quick flow for what was nonstop traffic, at least while we were there. The staff was efficient and had service with a smile. Food: They only serve one type of donut, the original, but with various toppings -or- I should say dunks and toppings. We tried the Lemon and Ocean Beach. Both were really good especially when the donuts were made fresh at the time of our ordering them, what a difference. Cleanliness: clean bathrooms and wiped tables made eating in comfortable. Overall: Unique, fun with good food and coffee. 5 Stars

Oh. Dear. God. If this place was located where I live, in Pittsburgh, I'd be 800 thousand pounds! Because I couldn't get enough of these incredible donuts. Now these aren't just any old donuts. These aren't Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts or any other crap you've been given. This is legit, made fresh in front of you dough nuts. And for realz, I'm NUTS about them! They have an array of fancy schmancy combos that you can choose from as well as a make your own selection. The first day we went (yes, we went twice in a row!) I got the Black Forest, that was raspberry, chocolate chips and coconut. That what's got me addicted on my bad bad habit! The next day I got three (YIKES!). The Banana Nut, which was good, but not my fave. Chocolate Covered Cherry, which was a close second to the Black Forest and then the Caramel Bliss with chocolate chips too... see a pattern. I honestly don't think any of them would have been bad. The only thing bad about these little donuts is the addiction that'll form from one little bit! Beware!!!

  • Kimberly W.

The best doughnut place ever !

    (5)
  • Brian S.

Really good donuts. The banana nut bread and peanut butter cup ones are really good as is the french toast donut. Two words of advice: 1. The donuts are much better when they are hot, so make sure to eat them there. 2. Also, avoid the tendency to over-order. You will probably have no problem downing all of the donuts you ordered but a few hours later you may feel like a beached whale once you hit the beach. But one or two won't kill you.

    (4)
  • Rob W.

All the donuts are hot, fresh, and extremely good. You can't go wrong with the plain jane though.

    (5)
  • Jen W.

When it comes to donuts, this place rocks! All the donuts are made to order, so you get hot, fresh donuts with your choice of flavors. The great thing is that you get hot, fresh donuts, the downside is you have to wait for them, but it is worth the wait. We tried 6 different flavors - chocolate covered cherry, lemonade, french toast, plain jane, morning buzz, and OC sand. Each cake donut is fried to order and then dressed in the appropriate flavor toppings. You just can't stop with one.

    (5)
  • Robert T.

If you like cake donuts, fried when you order them, with a huge selection of glazes and toppings, then this is the little shop for you! Not only is it a great place for fresh donuts, but the people who run the joint are a lot of fun, too! We cut up with them a little bit while they dressed-up our fried cakes. We got a dozen assorted donuts on our first visit here. The batter is nice and makes a warm, moist palette for whatever flavors you desire. We paced ourselves and enjoyed them through the course of the day, but they're best when fresh from the fryer. We tried some of the "busier" combinations, and they were all good, but we enjoyed the simpler donuts the most. We recommend the Coffee Cake, the OC Sand or the Pebble Beach, to name a few. Just don't over-do it... after all, it IS fried cake and sugar. If you're looking for something savory, they've got that, too. You can have a breakfast sandwich on a bagel or a donut while you sip one of their selections of fine coffee in their cute little dining room. Give 'em a try! I think you'll like it!

  • Marie S.

You have not lived until you've had a freshly made donut from the Fractured Prune. Seriously, it's that good. Worth every fat gram and calorie. They make the donuts right in front of you and they are dipped in the coatings right there. They're still hot when you get them. All kinds of flavors, from mocha and chocolate covered cherry to glazed with sprinkles - good flavors, not weird foodie flavors. Amazing. Not to be missed if you are anywhere near Rehoboth.

Very little parking available. The donuts are yummy and fun.

"It's like a chocolate chip pancake and donut had a baby." This was what my son said as he bit into his delicious donut. I should preface this review by stating I'm not a big fan if donuts. There was an unfortunate pop-em incident in the 80's binge that turned ugly bad. I've tried hot fresh Krispy kremes and various other bites, but after 35 years, still not a fan. We ordered 12. Sprinkled - good, apple pie- incredible- 1st place, o.c. Sand- awesome- a solid second , plain glazed-awesome, peppermint patty, Oreo, Reese's, French toast, and blueberry hill - all fantastic. Biting into these donuts is like seeing heaven. Like cloud pillows, they dissolve instantly. They're not heavy or greasy. I ate almost 3 (no shame) and had no vomity feeling regrets.Line moved quickly, organized, great customer service and clean bathrooms. My boys each bought a t-shirt, and the employee was so kind and helpful, I was blown away. Thank you fractured prune, I am fan!

This place is amazing! The food speaks for itself, but it also helps that the staff is friendly and fun. The manager (owner?) was visible and helping the workers, and when she offered me an iced chai instead of hot, she made it herself and brought it over to us. There are so many toppings available for your fresh, hot donut, and they are willing to customize the specialty donuts they have available as well. I wish there was a Fractured Prune near me! This is definitely a place I would frequent if I could.

Stopped here this morning to grab some doughnuts before leaving to head home. Doughnuts are made to order right in front of you and served warm. They many different flavors including salted caramel which so far is my fav. You can get a half dozen for 7 dollars

A month ago we tried fractured prune for the first time. It was an amazing experience. The location is convenient and the product is exceptional.

    (5)
  • Denise R.

We love the Fractured Prune and always make a stop on our last day at the beach. The donuts are fresh and are out of this world when served hot. Our favorite is the OC sand! They make them fresh so be patient when waiting for your order!

    (5)
  • Thomas P.

Fresh made donuts right in front of you?! Heck yes! They have tons of glazes and toppings that you can add. Now, these are "cake" donuts. They're all the same donut. Ring donut dipped in toppings. That's not a bad thing. And coming off hot out of the fryer? Mmm.

    (4)
  • Brandon R.

It's the really awesome donut shop with the weird name. Trust me, look past the name, get to the nearest location and try as many as you can. Stand in line, pick a few of the donut specials like my favorite, BlueBerry Hill or choose your own toppings. Take a seat because these are made to order so every one of your selections will come out hot and fresh. These donuts made me believers of the cake donut format as I've always been a yeast fan. My favorite location is at Rehoboth Beach. So instantly, it created a perfect experience of sand in my toes, a cup of hot tea and a few Fractured Prune donuts. No matter where though, they still taste good.

Written by my younger daughter: Why Fractured Prune does not rule the world I will never understand. I have no idea why Dunkin Donuts is still in business. Fractured Prune seriously needs to make a comeback or else I will raid every Dunkin Donuts out there. Fractured Prune has a mouth watering taste that makes you want to come back every time. Hand glazed, crispy and hot, things can't get better than this in donuts. When we came here, I was tempted to force my dad into buying 5 dozen but sadly, he did not give in to my attempts. As we drove away from the place, a little part of me died. WHY OH WHY ISN'T FRACTURED PRUNE ON EVERY BLOCK???? WHY???? (P.S. Dunkin Donuts, please morph into Fractured Prune and the world will be a whole lot happier.)

our first visit was at 9 a.m. on a monsoon-like saturday and we were instantly cheered by the funky, purple decor and one of the best scents ever - frying donuts :) they're almost too pretty to eat! especially loved the black forest, blueberry hill, chocolate-covered cherry, lemonade (favorite!), caramel bliss, and strawberry shortcake. we had breakfast and then got a box to go for dessert, later. delicious, cozy, fun. they have the cutest shirts for sale too.

  • Amanda S.

If I could pick this place up and move it to my town in California, I totally would. We tried a bunch of the flavors and combos. Good thing we were only in the area overnight otherwise I would have gained some serious vacation pounds because I would not have been able to avoid eating here every morning!!

When I think donut shop....I think this place.

    (5)
  • Nathan B.

Great Donuts. A little pricey IMO for a donut, specialty or not. Not a fan of the service we received. Nothing terribly bad, just an attitude from the cashier! Also not much room to move around and wait 15 minutes for your donuts.

    (4)
  • mary k.

Just ok ...like a crispy cream with stuff on the top ..but dripping with oil

    (3)
  • Keejoo L.

Great little bakery with the cutest little donuts. They remind me of the ones that krispy kreme used to sell, they melt in your mouth with sugary goodness. Good for a splurge or a morning treat. Not a good thing to bring with you on the beach though, the sun and beach creatures will get to them and you will not want to eat a sandy, melted donut!

    (4)
  • L C.

No doubt, this is a tourist peer reviewed donut shop that deserves a better review from me and appears to get too much hype in Sussex County. One unique approach with Fractured Prune that only Krispy Kreme does with just the glazed donuts is the "made to order" mantra with all donuts. That's a great idea that any donut you want, it's made to order. So that means, you should eat it right away because how often can you eat a donut like that? Well that's exactly what you do because when it sits out a few hours, it's really not that much better than Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons or grocery store brand. Small sizes, almost exorbitant prices and if you decide to get breakfast, it's probably a modest value but it's all a small bagel stacked heavy inside it. Don't go nuts with this place, get a donut or two and enjoy it fresh.

  • Curt S.

Good stuff!!!! How can you go wron with Fresh HOT Donuts covered in all kinds of sweet, and crunchy goodies?? YOU CAN"T!! These things are so good!!! You gotta try them since you haven't had anything like them from a DD or other donut shop. We also had a Bagel sandwhich from there which was surprisingly good as well. Coffee is piping hot and the atmosphere is quirky and fits the place. I think that using playing cards as your order # is a neat touch to! GOTTA HAVE EM!!!

  • Katie R.

The line was from the counter to the door today and we couldn't leave! I LOVE Fractured Prune donuts and they are easily worth any wait! Definitely try to eat them fast, even if they are hot. Our favorites include OC Sand, Pebble Beach, and Carnival!

  • R M.

We really enjoy Fractured Prune - great donuts, served hot, lots of yummy flavors. My favorite is the Reeses Cup... Very good. So much better than any other chain donut, and well worth a trip when you are at the Eastern Shore!

Doughnuts - 2.5 stars Owners - 5+ stars I love me some doughnuts. Yummy, fat soaked, pillows of deliciousness with tasty glaze. MM MMM MM MMM MM. That being said, it was a cloudy rainy blah day this past Thursday in Rehoboth, and me and the kids needed some quick grub. All my friends raved about the Fractured Prune locations here in DC, so we though hey - it's right there by the outlets, so why not. Kids + sugar = fun. We pull up at 1:45 and notice they close at 2 PM - they even turned the lights out in the dining room already. Oops. I sheepishly walk in with my kids, and the owners were more than happy to turn the lights on for us as we stood there arguing over how many doughnuts we wanted and which kind. We got a dozen to take home for later, mostly of the OC sand and French toast variety. The owners told us that the doughnuts would still be good tomorrow. We ate some banana pudding, rolo, and French toast doughnuts while we were there. They were hot hot hot (which is good), but a tad undercooked for my tastes. The next morning the boys woke up all excited to doughnuts for breakfast. They ripped open the box and you'd have thought that Santa forgot them on Christmas by the looks on their faces. The glazes had all disappeared and the doughnuts were all mushy. They weren't even edible and all got thrown out - which was a nice waste of $11. q-( o.o )-p In summary, I will not be going out of my way to go to the Fractured Prune - once you've had hot fresh Krispy Kreme glazed, everything else is inferior. But, I will give serious props to the owners of the location because they were so incredibly nice.

Not for me. Hot fried donuts with toppings melted on the top. Yuch!!! Went after reading review in Washingtonian. Will never trust Washingtonian Magazine again. We bought a dozen, ate pieces for 6 and took the rest home. On the way home we all agreed. Worst in class. We stopped at a pull off and threw the remaining donuts in the trash can. A $12 donation to the local economy.

You are only limited by your imagination at this fabulous donut spot. Banana Glaze, Apple Butter Glaze, Honey Glaze...the list goes on and on. Toppings out the wazoo, cinnamon sugar, coconut, peanuts! My head is just spinning thinking about all the delicious options! This is not to mention the specialty donuts - my favorite being the Ms. Prunella (where the Fractured Prune name originated) - which is a hot hand-dipped donut with mixed berry glaze and cinnamon sugar topping. On top of melt-in-you-mouth deliciousness, this place has a lot of great character and a helpful staff. Just be prepared to start referring to yourself as Homer Simpson, because after a visit to this spot, you will have donuts on the brain.

  • Sean D.

I stopped in on a whim while out grabbing milk for breakfast on the morning we arrived in town for vacation... serendipity has rarely been kinder! I am fairly certain that if Peter Pan sprinkled my kids with fairy dust and told them to think happy thoughts they would think of these donuts. We tried a dozen of these tasty treats: snickers, smores, apple pie, orange creamsicle, lemonade, honey and cinnamon sugar, chocolate chip, strawberry shortcake, banana pudding.... are you seeing that your schema for understanding donuts is too limited for this place? Just tell yourself what I did - that all of the swimming would erase the calories of the 3-4 donuts I would eat that morning.

It's not often I give out a 5-star review, but this place is totally worth it. It was the 4th of July, and the boy and I needed to soak some alcohol up before heading off to Philly, when we spotted the Fractured Prune, a place I've only heard about, but have never tried. OMG. Is this heaven? If so, hand me a rosary and kill me now, because I want to go to there. I got a Blueberry Hill. A hand-dipped, still warm and flaky, soft as a pillow donut covered in a blueberry glaze and powdered sugar. The blueberry glaze wasn't super sweet, but it WAS super blueberry. It tasted like mashed fresh berries had just been placed in my mouth. The staff was also super friendly, and had a lot of patience for it being a holiday. They joked around with us, pointed out some of their favorites and told us "to take our time" since we were newbies. I'm glad I don't live near here, I'd turn into one of those people who'd have to be lifted out my house by a crane. P.S. F cupcakes. Let's get some donuts in DC !

    (5)
  • Andrea W.

Every time we're in the area, we stop here. Don't let the name fool you- the place has nothing to do with prunes. It's all about piping hot donuts made to order, super-friendly staff, and good coffee (including a nice selection of flavored coffees!). If you go, ask the staff for recommendations. I've been surprised to find that some of my favorite doughnut concoctions are ones I'd never think to order! Also, if you go with friends or family, grab a knife to cut the donuts and share. And if you bring your pooch, they just may get their own special something (staff have been known to carry dog treats!).

    (5)
  • Nancy K.

Decadent and delicious! The Fractured Prune makes donuts to order and they are worth every calorie!

    (5)
  • Rich K.

In short, I love this place. They've got two things going for them: decent, honest, fresh-out-of-the-oil donuts from the "Donut Robot", and custom hand dipping of your donuts to order. Whether picking from their menu of pre-chosen topping combinations, or just telling them what you are hankering for, the result is a fresh hot donut with just the toppings you want. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the decor is funky, and it's really a good way to start the day. While I've had better donuts, the combination of having exactly the toppings you want, done to order takes an otherwise "Good" donut and makes it a "Great" donut. This is basically what a donut shop should be.

  • Vincent N.

This place is awesome. We usually get a box of donuts and some iced coffee and eat them on the beach. I love the french toast ones the best.

Best donut I have ever eaten. I had the Black Forest which has a raspberry glaze, coconut, and chocolate chips. What impressed me most was the fresh, yellow cake donut itself. Literally melted in my mouth. I also had an egg & cheese bagel sandwich which was average. Fun atmosphere and cheerful, efficient service.

Donuts are over-rated unless you have the sweet tooth of a 5-year old. Employees are rude.

I have a sweet tooth, and this place is really bad news for people like me. It is heavenly!!! Some people drive for hours for really good BBQ or pizza -- I'll drive for hours for one of these donuts. The variety is blissful. I love the snickers, rocky road, lemonade, banana split, peanut butter & jelly, etc. But, I'm a purist at heart and if I could only eat one flavor donut for the rest of my life, it would be the Fractured Prune honey cinnamon. Anyone up for a road trip?

These donuts are amazing! If you are going to the Delaware beaches definitely stop in for a dozen. Everything is hand dipped, and when you get the box they are still warm!!

Best donuts ever. Piping hot, super sweet, moist, the most unhealthy food I think I've ever put in my mouth, but don't regret it and I will do it again. I love the OC Sand, French Toast. Four donuts and coffee for Only $8.

I'm no donut connoisseur, but these little nuggets were delicious. Served hot and fresh to order, I'd liken FP to a sassy Krispy Kreme (i.e. more flavor and personality). When in Rehoboth Beach I would highly encourage headin' out to Highway 1...well worth the effort.

The menu has so many options, but sometimes it gets to be too much. I was looking for a light, doughy, chocolate-covered doughnut and someone recommended the Fractured Prune. I was very dissapointed. These doughnuts are very heavy and more cakey than doughy. Won't go again.

Best donuts I've ever had. Morning Buzz (donut with mocha glaze and oreo topping) was delicious. Kids loved their creations- chocolate glaze with rainbow sprinkles. Decent sized seating area so you can stay and enjoy your donuts hot. There is a small fee if you use your credit card for less than $10. Small price to pay to support a local small business. So bring cash or buy more donuts.

Our friends drove to Fractured Prune all the way from Pittsburgh, PA just for the donuts, then turned around and drove home. Yes, they really are that good! With custom flavors like reese cup, banana pudding, key lime pie, and peppermint patty, these unique gourmet donuts are all made from scratch with high end, custom ingredients and then fresh dipped to order, and served still steaming hot. (They're good any time, but you will never have better donuts than these hot and fresh from the cooker) Despite being extremely busy (with good reason), they have some of the most polite and hardest working staff you'll find anywhere. You can see how much pride they take in their quality and service. They also have tons of drinks, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and is the perfect stop if you want to start the day off right, or be the hero of your office that morning. Fractured prune offers the best donuts I've ever had, and elevates them from a common commodity to a divine donutsplosion of deliciousness.

My first visit to a Fractured Prune. I'm a huge doughnut fiend, so I was excited to share a half-dozen with a friend to try a variety of their elaborate flavors. The way it works is they make fresh (hot) donuts, which are then topped or dipped according to the order (eg, the base donut is the same in each flavor). That base donut itself is delicious, made to order, and much better than something like Krispy Kreme (comparing fresh-made). Not quite as dense as a cake donut, but heavier than a traditional yeast-raised. The toppings are kind of over-the-top (pun intended), sometimes overwhelming the donut. Some are also very messy, keep the napkins handy. The flavors skew to the over-sweet (some of them tasting like icing). Staff were quite friendly. There's seating inside as well as some picnic tables outside by the road. There was a coffee area off to the side (pre-made) which looked unattended and lonely. I'd love to see more emphasis on coffee (fresher, in the same area as the donuts, espresso, or something). I'd be happy eating just a couple of the bare donuts (which is one of the flavor options), but more than that is too much same-sweet for my palate. But the available variety makes this place a crowd-pleaser.

LOVE FRACTURED PRUNE! We frequent the one, in OCNJ a lot in the summer.. This location is EXTRA friendly and helpful. And I think the donuts were perfect here-- perfect crisp and softness.. amazing.

The most amazing donuts EVER!!! They cook them fresh to order and dip them in homemade glazes and toppings. Highly recommend eating them right after ordering as they are best when piping hot! I like salted Carmel, peppermint patty, pumpkin and pebble beach. A fun atmosphere makes this place a memorable beach stop!

Good donuts but not the best I have had. The reviews made it sound like these were going to be great. Had the apple pie donut, key west, and another one with caramel and something on it. Nice they come out fresh made but the cake donut itself was dry. If they basic donut had some flavor they would be much better. Overall not a bad bakery but does not life up to the hype.

Besides crabcakes, this is a definitely must have at Rehoboth beach! Their hours are not the greatest so plan ahead. We came from New York City and came straight here to make it in at 2:50pm right before the 3pm closing. But boy it's worth it. Our donuts were a fresh batch and absolutely delicious.. Nice and crisp on the inside and soft and sweet on the inside. The flavors are plentiful and nothing is overtly sugary. They really have done a great job in creating highly addictive, novel donuts. FYI, even the next day, the donuts are still soft so don't be shy in ordering the dozen donuts!!

Went here for the first time on the way to the beach for Memorial Day Weekend. As you open the door the smell of fresh donuts assaults your senses and a huge poster with donut options overwhelms you at the same time. After discussing with my beach mates for 5 minutes we finally pared it down to a half dozen. The donuts were glazed and topped to order and are so delicious. I recommend the morning buzz - mocha glaze & cookie crumbs, it has a hint of coffee to it, and also the french toast - maple glaze & cinnamon sugar. Be warned - you'll need to have a sweet tooth to enjoy these, if the bright colors and infinite sprinkles didn't give it away. Give them a try! I'm already planning what to get when I go to the beach next weekend!

First time I've gotten doughnuts from them. They were warm bundles of happiness. I got just plain for myself, but the kids got different flavors. Everything was just amazing. This will likely be a routine stop for us each time we're at the beach.

Never heard about the Fractured Prune until visiting Rehoboth Beach! I thought it was a cute mom and pop shop and didn't realize it was a chain until I saw the other locations. Definitely a place to check out for donuts! Basically, you create or purchase unique donuts that are made once you order. The combos were delicious, the "create your own" always keeps things new, and the service was superb. I loved how they called the customer's number based on a deck of cards. The inside was also very funky with different knick knacks hanging from the ceiling and the coffee bar was varied.

You'll know Fractured Prune when you see it, as the big purple building is hard to miss even in a fairly colorful shore town. Though the outside seems outrageous, inside is even more fantastical, with bright paint, toys hanging from the ceiling, and of course, fresh, hot, customizable donuts. Newbies might be tempted to start with the pre-fab choices, delightful concoctions dreamed up by the staff, such as Reese's cup, Peppermint patty, creamsicle, and chocolate covered cherry. You can't go wrong with these tried and true combinations, but I dare you to take a look at the long list of glazes and toppings and dream up at least one of your own. There are so many options here that it's worth grabbing a dozen ($13) as long as you've got a few friends to share with - cut them up and sample each, so you can try all the crazy combinations. Paramount to the success of Fractured Prune, not only is every order prepared to order, but every donut is served HOT, meaning melty glaze and pleasure overload for your tastebuds. This means sometimes waiting in line, but it is totally worth it. You'll leave wondering why anyone even bothers eating room temperature donuts.

Good idea. Each donut gets its own glaze and tooling. Big local favorite. Apparently it is a local franchise. I asked about key lime glaze, but they said it was from another franchise, as if I was supposed to know that. Donut s came quickly. They were warm, which always makes donuts better. No seating. We plopped on curb outside and dug in with milk in hand. Most were too sweet fur me. Fruit glazes not much fruit flavor. Chocolate ones better. One of these a year is probably enough for me.

Insanely tasty donuts that are made fresh with each order and hot dipped. Best when they're hot and a dizzying assortment of toppings & dips. And a really friendly, down to earth staff. One caveat - it's all the same donut. The variety comes from the toppings so if you're looking for a jelly-filled/chocolate/crueller type thing, it's probably not your place. But then again, it might be after trying one. ;)

After reading all the reviews on yelp, I decided we had to try these donuts. We were staying very close by so we stopped in and grabbed a dozen-mixed variety. I tried 2- cookies & cream and something with coconut on it... I was not impressed at all, neither were the people I was staying with. I couldn't taste the flavor of either donut-just a plain almost banana like taste of a donut on both- and I HATE banana. I was bummed I really had higher expectations I guess. Very pricey too- $15 for a dozen, what!

Donuts are made fresh to order on site. A must stop when visiting Rehoboth Beach. Make time to sit down and eat there. Donuts are best shared. So many choices that you want to eat them all. You will be fighting for bites. Owner and staff are helpful, fun and friendly! Great to support local business.

Amazing hot fresh donuts. Stopped by here on the way to Rehobeth beach cause someone in my car wanted to go. All donuts are cooked to order and the toppings are such a sugar rush. If you do not like sweets this place is not for you, but as a sugar junky this is right up my ally. I had ordered a dozen donuts and god we only needed 6. The extra did come in handy later when the munchies struck though. That's right these are also good 6 hours later haha.

Doughnuts are great. I hate doughnuts and I thought these were pretty good! Everything else though was terrible. Don't get the breakfast sandwiches. And stay far far away from that pre-sweetened, pre-dairied iced coffee.

I didn't realize Fractured Prune was a donut shop for the longest time! This is the best donut place in Rehoboth Beach. They freshly fry donuts and you can customize them with whatever toppings you want (or select from their menu). They are best when eaten immediately. A dozen donuts is a great deal! The Carnival is my favorite! I definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Terrible. Called in to see if they did a special for National Donut day. They said. Sure come on in. We will give you a OC Sand. I figured I would buy more donuts as well. But when you go in. Only with a purchase with a coffee. First it should be any purchase. Second. They should let you know on the phone you need to buy coffee. Just terrible.

I have visited Rehoboth for several years and have wanted to try this place. This year we got up early and went to get breakfast. It's obviously a popular place. The line of customers was ongoing. They offer donuts with simple glazes and then they offer a line if specialty flavors-like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. We ordered a half dozen regular glazed and a half dozen chocolate glazed for the "donut purists" that were with us. Then we ordered a dozen specialty. They write the names of the donuts in the lid so you know which donut is which. They are made fresh to order. I thought since they were a cake consistency that they would be heavy. Instead they are light and a bit fluffy. The edges even have a bit if a crunch to them. They are incredibly delicious. You NEED to get some!!!

Good doughnuts, nice service and establishment. I prefer Krispy Kreme personally, but the flavor options are nice to try.

Maybe I'm too partial to Krispy Kreme; however, I did think the donuts here were really good. We showed up right after they opened one morning and were able to order quickly. There were a few customers in the store already devouring their freshly-made donuts with coffee and glasses of milk. As a "first-timer," we ordered a half-dozen to take home; of the flavors we chose, I'd recommend the O.C. Sand, Key Lime, and Blueberry Hill. I love cake donuts, which is a good thing, because that's what these are (just "souped-up" with different glazes and toppings). Alas, I'd love them more if there was a cream-filled option.

Honesty, didn't live up to the hype. We were expecting a delicious, mouthwatering experience. Instead we were greeted by less than patient or helpful service. There were only two other customers ordering so there wasn't a line or reason to be short and rude. Our donuts were so hot everything melted off of them so we were left with a puddle of chocolate and blueberry sauce (put rolo and blueberry hill in same box). And sticky messy inedible donuts. We are duck donut lovers and much prefer them even though duck has less flavor options. We won't be back.

The donuts are still great although they now call themselves "Doughnuts" which surprised me - along with the new non-purple boxes which I must say is a degradation from the original awesomeness, I note the franchise is expanding further - in Michigan, Utah and somewhere else I can't remember. The thing here is you have to eat the cinnamon sugar ones and you have to do it immediately. Which means they should have the kind of coffee I need to drink for sale. That would be let's just say a game changer. As it is I have to decide whether to drink my coffee before or after or take a travel mug with me which is difficult if I don't have one at all. Also they need to know how to make strawberry icing dip look proper.
